Performance of Downlink Nulling for Combined Packet/Circuit Switched Systems

چکیده
In the evolution of 2 generation mobile communication systems packet switched data transmission (e.g. GPRS/EGPRS in GSM Phase 2+) and circuit switched speech communication will be demanded in parallel. Directing nulls of the antenna pattern to active mobiles in the downlink beamforming process using antenna arrays at the base station may be useless in the case of packet data transmission. We show that even in combined packet/circuit switched mobile communication systems „gentle“ downlink interferer nulling dependent on propagation conditions and traffic distribution leads to performance and capacity improvements.

Does Downlink Nulling Make Sense for Combined Packet/circuit Switched Wireless Systems?
Downlink beamforming is the limiting factor in the application of adaptive antennas in cellular mobile communication systems. Directing nulls of the antenna pattern to active mobiles in the downlink will be impractical in the case of packet data transmission. But in the evolution of 2 generation mobile communication systems packet switched data transmission (e.g. GPRS/EGPRS in GSM Phase 2+) and...
متن کاملCDMA cellular downlink transmission with transmit arrays and power control: circuit-switched and packet-switched systems
Wireless CDMA cellular downlink communications with transmit antenna arrays in multipath fading channels is studied. Transmit diversity and various beamforming techniques are investigated and compared, in conjunction with power control. No instantaneous downlink channel information is assumed; however, the obtained results are also compared with results assuming ideal feedback. The study is car...

متن کاملJitter Management in Circuit Switched Voice over HSPA Networks
When a shared channel or packet switched network is used for transmission (e.g. WLAN, HSPA (Turbo-3G), LTE (4G)), it introduces variance in the delay of packets. This variance is called jitter. This jitter can lead to significant degradation of quality in real-time services if it is not properly handled. High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) is an extension to the third Generation W-CDMA cellular net...

Third generation (3G) packet switched WCDMA networks with high-speed downlink packet access (HSPDA) are currently being deployed worldwide to provide wireless broadband connectivity. When introducing HSDPA in 3G networks the end user experience and system capacity with voice over IP applications improve considerably. When later on adding also high-speed packet uplink access (HSUPA), the system ...
